Roberto’s Biography
Born Robert Chindamba Banda, on 17th December in Chipata, Roberto is the last born in a family of nine. Hailing from a musical family, both parents being active musicians, Roberto picked up his musical interests at a tender age. He and elder brother DAVID BANDA also known as GENERAL OZZY are the only professional artists in the family.
Roberto, recorded his first song in Johannesburg, South Africa at a studio owned by Boom Shaka member Junior Sokela.
Roberto went on to produce a Hip Hop compilation called THE TAKE OFF, which featured artists from across the African continent in 2004.
In 2007, Roberto offloaded a song titled Operator, which launched his road to stardom, the song was an instant hit, and this was followed by the release of the self-titled album ROBERTO. 2009 saw the release of his 2nd album titled AKASUBA, which produced hits SAVE OUR LOVE, DON’T SAY YOU DO, and AKASUBA. The 2012 album MY NAME IS… is still rated as Roberto’s most successful album, boasting a record 5 number 1 songs, LOVE YOU MORE, CHAWAMA, SALAULA, GOOD WOMAN, KAWALALA.
Roberto went on to release his monster hit single, AMARULAH which later was title track of his 4th album, the latest 5th studio album is SUPERSTAR. A nick name given to Roberto by his late sister.
The album sees the international break through, with a whopping 4 international features, those being Patoranking(Nigeria), Mohombi (Belgium), Dammy Krane (Nigeria) Vanessa Ndee (Tanzania) Brathahood Crew & Jay Rox (Zambia)
